Loved hosting our in-person kids Chinese book club today! From our youngest 3-year-old to our oldest 10-year-old, it was amazing watching them all share their favorite books in Mandarin. So grateful to have had a booth at Passport to Taiwan @p2tw.nyc this year! Cathy @yido_artstudio and @gendalin designed a beautiful little art project that combined Taiwanese desserts and Chinese character stroke order that truly embodying the kind of immersive workshops we design for our community. Our goal is to show that learning Chinese doesn’t have to stay confined to a traditional classroom; It can be experienced through different forms of art, subjects, and environments, which makes the learning so much more fun and interesting! Early Chapter Books Looking for Online Reading Buddy! 甜蜜的負擔- This is a sentence from Taiwan elementary Chinese textbook and I think it really describes my feeling about having the two cuties at home. This “sweet burden” has changed my life and changed how I see the world. I feel grateful to have them and can’t wait to explore the world with them again and again 😍. Our signature program, Mandarin Family Art Workshop, at The Met on 5/17 is now sold out! 🎉We are so excited to see everyone there for a day of art and immersive language! 😍 Over the past month, four families reached out for help with their Taiwan summer camp search, each with their own priorities, from specific interests to location and overall fit. Homophones (同音字, tóngyīnzì) is probably one of the hardest parts of Chinese language. Each pronunciation has many characters that have different meanings. When the kid starts to learn intermediate to advanced characters, it’s very difficult to memorize some characters that don’t have easy to understand meanings. Little bun started this drawing game where she’d draw something familiar to her own vocabulary and use that connection to help her memorize the new characters’ pronunciation. Mandarin Story Time in the Park! 📖✨
