How this all started?

Because our bilingual journey, I’ve purchased a lot of books over the years but we don’t read every single book all the time. I understand that buying Chinese books not only is expensive it’s also taking up space. That’s where this book rental idea comes from.

Rental rules

Each rental is consist of 30 days starting from the date the package delivers. The payment you will make here is an recurring charge until the books are returned. As long as the books are returned and received within the first 15 days of the second month, you will receive a refund for the second month’s rental fee.

During our beta period, we will only provide this service in NY area. For any bilingual families who live outside NY and are interested in this service, please contact me.

Book Rental FAQ

  • Q: How long does it take to receive the rental books?
    A: During our beta period, books will be delivered within 7 days after payment. Don’t worry—the 30-day rental period starts after the books are delivered.

    If you’re receiving books by mail, they should arrive within 7–10 days.
  • Q: How do I return books?
    A: You’ll receive a reminder email and text 7 days before your 30-day rental ends. For local pickups (beta period), we’ll arrange a local collection.

    If you received books by mail, simply pack them in the original packaging and send them to the address provided in the reminder email and text.
  • Q: What if my kids damage the books?
    A: We understand accidents happen! If a book is damaged, we’ll send you an invoice, and you’ll be able to keep the damaged book.
  • Q: How much does it cost to rent books?
    A: The rental fee for each book is listed on its page. This includes the book and 30 days of reading time.
  • Q: Can I extend my rental period?
    A: Yes! Since rentals are billed monthly, just let us know if you’d like to keep the books longer when you receive the reminder email or text. Once the books are returned, your subscription will end.
  • Q: What happens if I lose a book?
    A: We understand accidents happen. If a book is lost, we’ll send you an invoice for its cost. Once it’s paid, you can continue renting with us.
  • Q: How do I choose books for my child?
    A: Check out our “Learn to Read” project page for reading level recommendations and book suggestions tailored to your child’s Chinese level.
  • Q: Are the books sanitized before shipping?
    A: Yes! We carefully clean and wipe down all books before sending them out.
  • Q: How can I start a new book rental?
    A: Once you’ve returned your current rental, you can browse our catalog and select new books to rent. Just pay the rental fee to get started.
  • Q: What’s included in a rental package?
    A: Each package includes your rented books and a return address sticker for easy shipping when you’re done.
