We just finished another 10 books with both kids.

Little Bun focused mostly on picture books this time. Some of them were from the library and didn’t have zhuyin, which showed me how strong her character recognition is. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time to use flashcards to boost it further. I’m also redoing Sagebook with Little Bao.

Little Bao’s progress since summer continues to impress me. He’s now reading a variety of picture books. Some are challenging, especially when entire paragraphs contain unfamiliar characters, and he has to sound them out with zhuyin. However, if he’s heard the story beforehand, it helps him anticipate the characters and read more smoothly.

With school starting, their reading pace will likely slow down. I’m just hoping they can keep up with their online class homework, which I’m now closely monitoring. We’ll try to read a book or two over the weekend.
